Report: Sister Jean is negotiating a deal with the Golden State Warriors
(SP) – Sister Jean Dolores-Schmidt, the 98-year-old nun who serves as chaplain for the Loyola University Chicago Ramblers, is reportedly close to finalizing a long-term deal to take her services to the Golden State Warriors.
« Obviously, any time you can add someone who can bring a high level of wisdom, guidance and support to your team, you want to see if you can make that happen, » Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. « Well, yes, we’ve arrived. »
Warriors sources say they have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to negotiate with the nun.
« They pay her about $12,000 a year, » a Warriors front office source said. “We’re paying it in a month just in lip service for Steph Curry. All he wants is about $13,000 and matching donations to charity. No problem. »
The Warriors also say they are not concerned about growing whispers that Sister Jean committed NCAA violations at Loyola.
“Giving players sanctification and intimate connection with the most powerful booster of all, God? Is that what you mean?’ said Kerr. « He’s just someone who wants to win. If the NCAA punishes her, it won’t have any impact here in the NBA. »
